Preservation Breeder of AKC Registered Collies & Shiba Inu
Health Testing
Genetic testing, eye examinations, and OFA evaluations help guide thoughtful and informed breeding decisions.
Purpose-Driven
Proper structure and temperaments are foundational to producing dogs that are capable in the show ring, willing partners in sports, and thriving as companions.
Breed Standard
Adherence to the breed standards set forth by the Collie Club of America and National Shiba Club of America, alongside consideration of the NIPPO standard for Shibas, supports the preservation of correct breed type.
Companionship
Producing dogs with the qualities to be exceptional lifelong companions remains my highest priority.
Responsibility
Alcyone Collies & Shibas is a small preservation breeding program located west of Spokane, Washington. With the decision to breed dogs comes a responsibility to make thoughtful and ethical choices, recognizing that each decision has a lasting impact on both the future of the breeds we steward and the individual dogs we produce.

All of my dogs are cherished companions and are active in conformation, agility, rally, obedience, scent work, and more. When they aren't competing in trials, shows, or working on their training, they can often be found watching TV on the couch, romping in the yard, or waiting to be given an ice cube from the freezer.

When I do have litters, they are raised in the home with care, compassion, and age appropriate developmental support.

I also find it important to support local responsible rescues, and often assist in transporting rescued dogs or doing home checks for hopeful adoptees.

Stewardship Through Science
The following tests are the minimum testing I complete to help guide my breeding decisions:

Shibas

OFA Hips
-
OFA Patellas
-
ACVO Eye Exam
Because this helps guide my program, DNA testing is completed for each puppy prior to them being placed in homes, unless clear by parentage.

Shows, Sports, and Companionship
Not every pet is a show dog, but every show dog is a pet ~ AKC Judge Pat Trotter
Competing in conformation is important as a breeder to prevent kennel-blindness, remain involved in the breed community, and to hold ourselves accountable. However, regardless of what shows, sports, or events my dogs partake in - The care, health, and wellbeing of the dogs comes first and foremost.

It's All For the Dogs
At the end of the day, I do this all for the dogs.
If you're looking for a Collie or Shiba from a breeder, need rescue recommendations, or are just simply curious about these breeds, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am always happy to answer any questions or offer a listening ear.
